Based on experience developing and executing on all elements of creating a successful IP management and commercialization arm of a Fortune 50 company, the Techquity team will develop a playbook for success for its clients based on the specific financial, operational, and strategic goals and precise situation of each asset family and its owners.  This effort can range from in-depth strategy development and execution planning for asset commercialization to turnkey IP based business launch, including structural recommendations and investment planning.  A key aspect of this is assisting owners in identifying the appropriate monetization approach in light of potential risk to owner’s interests.

IP Catalog and Analysis

A company has little chance of generating IP value without a thorough understanding of its existing portfolio.  The Team will exploit unique expertise and experience from directing one of the market’s leading IP portfolios to bring clarity to what may appear to be an amorphous set of patents or other IP.  This effort reaches beyond patent analysis to include careful understanding of the technological and market drivers critical to the use and application of the assets and the related competitive environment.  The result is a detailed analysis of a patent’s use in the market, application across industries, and specific measures for enhancement through extension and combination.

Asset Management & Commercialization

The Principals have a unique record of generating substantial realized earnings from an IP portfolio in a short period of time through a variety of transaction structures.  They will bring this experience and proven IP management and monetization skills to the portfolio.  In particular, Techquity provides an asset deployment vehicle for assets that owners are unable to monetize directly due to resource constraints, market factors, or other strategic issues. Using proven approaches to asset commercialization, Techquity will initiate value-maximizing transactions based on in-depth asset evaluation and economic analysis.  Fundamental to this work is a rigorous approach to market analysis and industry dynamics assessment, technical analysis of the assets, valuation, and risk assessment for various approaches, leading to a clearly articulated execution plan for market coverage.  Techquity will then fully execute on a monetization plan, adapting and mitigating risk as market factors change.

Asset Acquisition

In the cases where value is maximized for IP owners by selling the assets outright, Techquity can leverage the Techquity Ventures to acquire the assets and integrate them with the Fund portfolio.
